For students with any level of experience however familiarity with sawframe use and a basics of silver soldering will be helpful. Total beginners are also welcome.

In this workshop we will focus on how to make two of the most popular type of jewellery earrings – post and drop style. These come with their own design challenges such as connections, gravity, matching and plus overall comfort and security.

Your first pair will be drop style made using the rolling mill and sawpiercing technique. You will also learn how to make your own handmade silver earwire that will complete the design.

Your second pair will be stud aka post style which will be your own design using any scraps from the first pair of earrings. You will learn the tricky method of soldering ear posts in place to complete the design.

This class is a great way to practice soldering and learn more manufacturing methods such as filing, sawing, texturing and forming. The skills taught in this class will easily transfer to other jewelry designs, like rings and pendants.
