Grandma Hearne's ring remodel
My sister Nicki inherited this ring from her Aunt Moya who had it from her Mum, Grandma Hearne. It was worn everyday for at least 60 years and that was truly obvious, lots of life had happened while it was on her hand! I cleaned it up and took a look at it a few years ago and advised her not to wear it until it was re-tipped in 7 places but it really best practice would say it needed a new custom triple mount to securly hold the 3 diamonds.
I finally got around to getting this ring back out in the world to shine and sparkle on her finger. Once I carefully took it apart it was evident the 3 diamonds had various areas of chips and damage to the girdle and bezel facets and were slightly different sizes and dimentions which is often the case with older pieces. So when making the mounts it was clear I had to accomodate these differences while protecting and hiding as much of the damaged areas as possible.
We decided that it would be best to leave full bezels around the ring both for protection and lower maintenence in future but also to look just that bit more modern. Pretty sparkles on her finger!
