Golden bird

This was such a fun commission and I really enjoyed every minute. Peter came to me with a very simple brief - a gold pendant necklace of a UK garden bird for Christine. He told me she loves watching the birds in her garden and he wanted to surprise her with something to treasure.

My first task was to sit in my garden and watch the birds and sketch. I rarely do this and I had forgotton how much joy I get out of sitting quietly and watching. After I sketched a few birds I then made a few little models to work out which one would be the golden one and set to work. I set a little Pailin Sapphire for the eye, engraved the details of wings, tail and markings then created texture to add surface interest. Handmade with love and totally unique I hope she loves it.
