Kids in the Studio
Over the years I have had many children in the studio to play with tools, metal, sharp things and fire. I find teaching young ones great fun. Their sense of play and exploration is high and the fear of failure low… oh how they love flames and hammering! This is a great time in life they are in deep learning mode all the time and tend to not overthink anything they just get tucked in. Of course they need closer watching than older students so I find a one to one the best option.
Right now lockdown has meant my 40+ hour week of bench studio work and teaching has been nearly frozen solid. I am trying very hard to get the balance back towards my own creativity and some form of online teaching too. The only time I have been in my studio without kids since lockdown has involved repairs and renovations all needs musts but I’m itching to get back to it. Today I thought I would share my current reality which means any studio time I get is interrupted.
These are some shots from studio visitors over the years…
